ALBUM NOTES
FAA Advisory Circular 61-21A was published in 1980 as the Flight Training Handbook, superseding
one of the same name dated 1965. Chapter 15 in the 1980 version was titled Seaplane Operations, and covered 17 topics: Water Characteristics, Characteristics of Seaplanes, Seaplane Bases, Rules-of-the-Road, Preflight Inspection, Taxiing, Idling Position, Plowing Position, Planing Position, Turns, Sailing, Porpoising, Skipping, Takeoffs, Landings, Crosswind Techniques; and Anchoring, Mooring, Docking, and Beaching.

The topics listed above were included in Chapters 16 of the the 1999 Airplane Flying Handbook. That revised version incorporated Ground and Flight Training Syllabi for both seaplanes and skiplanes. The handbook's Chapter 16 Transition to Seaplanes and Chapter 17 Transition to Skiplanes were eventually removed from the Airplane Flying Handbook, and incorporated into an all-new 2004 version, appearing here.

My MP3 Seaplane, Skiplane, And Float/Ski Equipped Helicopter Operations Handbook is five hours of listening and has nine chapters, explaining the basic skills necessary for piloting seaplanes, skiplanes, and helicopters equipped with floats or skis. The handbook was developed by the FAA Flight Standards Service, Airman Testing Standards Branch, in cooperation with various aviation educators and industry.

"My MP3 recording is a valuable tool for learning. I think you will agree."
