Selected Ancient Videos
by Tom Gorski
Windows Media Video and MPG Format
I first recorded video in 1977 on 1/2"
open-reel tapes
with
a Sony Porta-Pak and Vidicon-Tube Camera.
I used either a slide projector or flashlight for illumination of
my earliest videos.
At the time, I was interested in both
video and performance art.
Video allowed for
experimentation with "primitive" techniques for recording,
utilizing real-time performance without re-takes.
Examples include "Elk Hound" and "Tabla
and Sitar."
In 1980 I recorded with Betamax, and Color Saticon-Tube Cameras.
In 1982 I began using portable VHS. In 2002 I purchased my first
Mini Dv, camcorder, and from 2005 I record mostly in
SD format.
