My next job as a pilot was in Chehalis, Washington. I flew Scenic flights to Mt. St. Helen's over a hundred times! I also flew numerous charter flights all over the Northwest and British Columbia. I also flew fire patrol during the summer months, and shot video from cameras mounted outside the aircraft. As with my first job as a pilot, I lived on the airport, so I was generally always available for any and all flight assignments. I had a loyal following of students, and I taught my first ground school classes at Centralia Community College, and seemed to stay busy as a flight instructor, even through the dreary winter months. At Centralia-Chehalis Airport, I studied for my advanced ground instructor certificates, and kept decided not to go for the airlines, but to stay in general aviation instead.
Things went pretty well at the Centralia-Chehalis airport. I loaned my Olivetti Editor typewriter to the secretary there, and she swapped a Radio Shack TRS-80 computer. She felt more comfortable using the typewriter, and I started playing with a computer. I banged away at the keyboard, and realized "Gee, I can save all my documents on a floppy disk!" I spent countless hours at my desk in Chehalis, writing quizzes and training outlines for my flight lessons. I commuted to Olympia, where I found myself spending more and more time at Percival Landing, and hours with my athletic friends, who encouraged me to keep physically active by juggling with them.
